    Mr. Abdul Malek is currently the permanent secretary of the Local Government Division. Within the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Bangladesh Government.

    He holds a Master’s Degree from Dhaka University in Public Administration and joined the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Cadre in January 1986. Mr. Malek has a long and illustrious career in the Bangladesh Government, working in various Ministries and field administration throughout Bangladesh during his 32 years of serving as government official. He was stationed in Field Administration at Bogra, Sirajgong, Rajshahi, Jamalpur, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Magura and Khulna Districts. He worked as Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate at Comilla District. He worked at the Central Secretariat of the Bangladesh Government in Dhaka in different positions in the Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Textiles, Bureau of Anti-Corruption, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Land. He worked as Joint Secretary and also as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government. He Served as Private Secretary-1 to the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sk. Hasina.

    He completed his LLB Degree. Also, he participated in courses and seminars at The Hague Institute of Local Governance, George Washington Institute of Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School, Institute of Kemajuan Desa (Infra) of Malaysia, Duke University of North Carolina. He is also a syndicate member of Barisal University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Senate member of National University of Bangladesh.
